  1. Mr Lee Kuan Yew was a through and through. He had brought Singapore up from a third-world country since its independence, to a first-world country, more than doubling the GDP of Singapore, all in a mere 40 years. He had dedicated more than half his life in the development in Singapore. He had showed that he had 'the iron in him'; he was willing to make controversial decisions throughout the development of Singapore such as eugenics and imprisoning his opposition without trial. However, he had made it all of these decisions all in the good for Singapore. The fact that he was willing to antagonize a lot of people so as to further Singapore's development shows his determination and dedication to the growing young nation. There were also a lot of other attributes that he possessed, such as his charisma and resilience that had allowed him to develop Singapore into what she is now.

  2. Throughout this entire week, I have got to know Mr Lee a lot more; his doings, attitude towards his work and his soft side. He had sacrificed almost his entire life building Singapore from scratch. This shows his passion towards what he does. He also persevered on, even when the future of Singapore might seem bleak, being a third world country in the beginning. He thought of ways to prosper Singapore and to improve the wellbeing of citizens, which shows his care and concern towards Singapore. Even when he did not know every single Singaporean, he still loved them and strived to give them the best in exchange of his life. This is truly the epitome of selflessness, for he is a great and noble man. Towards his family, he was very loving towards his wife. During an interview, he smiled unusually lot while mentioning about his wife. This really portrays just how much he loved his wife, even after she had passed away...His loyalty and his love towards her. Mr Lee is certainly a man of great attitude, be it in his work or family. Thus, I feel that we should look up to him and learn from him, because if there was no Mr Lee Kuan Yew, there would not have a prosperous Singapore. Whatever we are enjoying now would not even exist. Thank you Mr Lee, rest in peace.

  3. Through this week, i really know more about mr lee kuan yew. In my opinion, he is a very sturdy leader and he believed in doing what he thought was right. It might not be favourited/liked by the people, but he still stuck with his decision and put in great amounts of effort into that direction. He never looked back and persevered and strived to make the best out of the situation at that time. Because of this, it lead Singapore to where she stands now, from a third world country to a first world one. Besides gaining the independence of Singapore, he has contributed greatly in many aspects to improve the lives of Singaporeans and Singapore as a whole. This includes the HDB flats, CPF, promoting garden city, etc. He is very forward looking to be able to come up with these policies/implements. He had a vision for Singapore and he did everything he can to achieve it, and because of it, he gave up his life just to make Singapore a better place. Even so, he never complained, let alone giving up. For this, i give him all my respect. Even though i am not a Singaporean, i am greatful for all his contributions and what he did for his country. Without Mr Lee Kuan Yew, there would be no Singapore.

  4. Through out this week of mourning, i have gained deeper insights and understanding of this great man, our founding father - mr lee kuan yew. The death of mr lee was a great loss to singapore and without him, singapore would not be able to develop from a third world country to a first world country. Mr lee was also longest prime minister in the whole world and this shows his determination and passion towards developing singapore. It is totally amazing that mr lee managed to turn singapore from a fishing village to a well developed country now , given another person, that person might not be able to even achieve the same successful results. Living in a little red dot, people now can lead a comfortable life without any worried and all this credits to mr lee.

Despite being politically devoted, he is also a good husband, father as well as grandfather. Though nothing much had been said about his family, i was able to tell through watching some short clips online. When Mrs Lee, his wife died, he was grief-stricken and even mentioned that life would be meaningless without her. When Mrs Lee was weak and lying on her bed, Mr Lee would sit beside her bed and updated her on his life that day as well as the news. Not only that, due to Mrs Lee's condition, Mr Lee shifted to the study room. Though it was just one room apart from the bedroom, Mr Lee was still unable to sleep due to his worried ness for his wife. Mr Lee loved Mrs Lee faithfully and was not shaken when other leaders of the world offered to bring some girls for him back in the days. During then, Mr Lee was already married and he rejected the offer. He said that he would only be devoted to his wife. This shows that Mr Lee's heart was still with his wife and would not do anything that betrays his wife. As a father, he stood by PM Lee's side when his first wife died after his son was being born. He brought Mr Lee Hsien Loong out of the grieve and told him that he had to carry on with life and he should find another partner who accepts his child which eventually Mr Lee Hsien Loong found. Not forgetting that Mr Lee Kuan Yew took great care of his grandchildren. The son of Mr Lee Hsien Loong is an albino and lost his mother before he even turned 1 years old. Mr Lee Kuan Yew then took great care of him, bringing him around the istana at night for a leisure walk. Though Mr Lee Kuan Yew is a strict grandfather, but without a doubt, he is a caring and devoted one too.

There was one unique thing about Mr Lee Kuan Yew, which is the fact that he does not get concerned over his popularity. Mr lee once said before that a leader who cares a lot about popularity is not a good leader and that the person is just catching the wind and following the wind direction. I totally agree with what he said and i believe that Mr Lee is one of the rare few leaders who is able to put aside the popularity among citizens. To this, i really admire Mr Lee. Due to the fact that he was not concerned over the popularity, he was able to make the best decision during the circumstance and made singapore progress. It was all thanks to him that Singapore is such a prosperous country now.
