My CAREER

The career i want take up is PSYCHOLOGY. I have a strong passion for psychology and i have pretty much confirmed that i want to work in the psychology field. I have been inspired by a psychologist that i know and i want to major in helping patients with eating disorders and as well as major in providing therapy for inmates in prisons. I am also considering to take up being a public speaker to reach out to people with eating disorders and prisoners.

The minimum requirement for being a psychologist is a honours psychology degree. But to be a professional one, a Master's or Doctorate Degree is required. I mainly want to be in clinical and counselling psychology. The main subjects required are social science subjects. I am planning to go to NUS to get my master's or doctorate degree for psychology. Being a psychologist requires sensitive and questioning skills, ability to relate to and empathise with a range of people, excellent communication skills etc. I am not too sure about the salary of psychologists, but money doesn't matter. (wow so deep) But i do know that being in a clinical and counselling psychologist will allow me to reach out the prisoners and patients of eating disorders.

My Career

My desired career path is electrical engineering. It involves the use of electricity, electromagnetism and electronics, some of which we are learning in school right now. Electrical engineering is a subfield of engineering, and the reason why it is my desired career is because I have interest in it. Science is an interesting field of study and it is very practical as well as applicable in our society, so being an electrical engineer would also mean being able to come up with new ideas and innovations to serve the community better. Since it involves areas related to electricity, subjects such as Mathematics and Physics are essential in order to have the knowledge and study about electrical engineering. It involves technical skills, critical thinking, team-building and a good attitude. What I like about it is the hands-on part, as I like doing practical instead of just studying and there are many things to explore in the electrical field. The salary is roughly $50K, although it is usually higher, depending on your workplace.

My Career

My choice of my future job is to be an accouuntant, auditor, or basically an office lady, That said, it is something related to the business sector of industries.
The reason why I chose to be working in an office is that I do not fancy working in the service sectors, nor working in the outdoors. However, one reason as to why I choose to specifically be an accountant or auditor is that I am very interested in the subject of Mathematics, and I really like studying it. Furthermore, it is one of the subjects that I am good in, thus affirming my choice to venture in the areas of being in the business sector. Given that accountancy and auditing involves the manipulation and usage of numbers, I believe that my interest is surely useful in that particular career. The second reason is that I am interested in the subject Economics as well, even though I may not necessarily be very good at it. Addiionally, almost everyone in my family is working as an accountant or auditor in some big firms in Singapore, thus my choice is also slightly influenced by all the choices of jobs made by my family. Therefore, this made me want to continue the trend and to also do well in the business sector.
There are many qualifications to being an accountant. Accountants have to be really good with numbers, have to be meticulous, logical and methodical. They even have to be good in IT skills and in softwares like Microsoft Excel, since offices are increasingly becoming paperless environments, and everything is increasingly reliant on technologies. They would also need good communication skills and to be able to understand the client’s business. Many companies also look for applicants that hold an accredited accountancy degree.
Such qualifications are closely linked to the job scope of accountants. Accountants are split into many different types and sectors, but they are generally required to prepare and examine financial records of a particular company or client's company and business. They ensure that financial records are accurate and that taxes are paid properly and on time. This is to assess financial operations and work to help ensure that organizations run efficiently. Some even recommends financial actions to their company by analyzing accounting options. An Accountant earns an average salary of SGD$46,252 per year.

My Career

One of the careers that I wish to pursue when I grow up is to be a mechanical engineer, preferably in a private sector. Mechanical engineers create and build mechanical devices that make the lives of others easier.
One very simple reason that I want to join mechanical engineering is because I like to build things. Since young, I have always liked helping my father build furniture that my parents purchase. I also enjoyed building little toy structures. When I was young, I wanted to be a construction worker, but that idea was quickly shot down after realising the long hours that I have to spend in the sun.
The most basic requirement to be a mechanical engineer is to obtain a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. I must also have a good math and physics foundation and be passionate in solving problems I face in real life.
Usually, engineers will spend their time in an office setting, but might occasionally need to go down to sites, depending on which type of mechanical engineering you wish to pursue, to take a look at the machines present. The minimum monthly wage would be around $2000 for a post graduate.
