Fixed Mindset VS Growth Mindset

On the CCE lesson on wednesday, we had a lesson reguarding fixed mindset and growth mindset. Many of us might have this question in our mind when we first started off this CCE lesson. " So what exactly is fixed mindset and growth mindset?"  Through this lesson, the class had a deeper understanding of what both these mindsets refer to and were even able to list some examples of each of these mindsets.

Basically, just to recap, having a fixed mindset means that you just believe that you aren't good at that something because you are who you are, while growth mindset means that you believe that anyone and everyone can be good at anything. When you do not do well in one thing, a person with growth mindset would encourage themselves by saying : I can do this! I just need to put in more effort! I will soon succeed!"

Do you find it benefical to you? Leave your comments below to share your ideas on the CCE lesson!

  1. In my humble opinion, the growth mindset is definitely better than having the fixed mindset. The only benefit that i can see in having a fixed mindset is just being able to give up easily, and have less things to deal with; although the benefit of this is controversial. The growth mindset allows us to challenge ourselves more than our current abilities, and allows us to thus improve. i do believe that I am on the road to a growth mindset, but not there yet; there are some things in which I get the thought of giving up. I do not give up, but I do the thing I am supposed to do with reduced motivation, knowing that I might not be able to complete the job at hand very satisfactorily. However, I am definitely challenging myself in many aspects that I am not good. For instance, I am learning the art of bookbinding although my hands are not the most agile.

  2. I think that having a growth mindset is a good thing. By having a fixed mindset, it does not help one to improve but stays at the original position or sometimes
even deteriorate. Thus, having a growth mindset is important as it results in one being constantly improving his/herself so that the best result can be attained.

  3. I agree that growth mindset does indeed have a positive impact on us learners. The fixed mindset is an obstruction to your path which will never make you improve. The way we learn and get better is by having a growth mindset. Since our thoughts shape the way we act, if we think that we can do it, then we will definitely keep trying until we solve it. On the other hand, having a fixed mindset will make us think that no, the problem is too hard for me to solve, I will not be able to do it. We will of course fail to solve the problem. Having a growth mindset is very important and we should all have such mindset to continue learning and improving.

  4. I believe that having a growth mindset is very beneficial to everyone. Having the mindset that allows you challenge yourself and go beyond your limits can help us to better cope in this society, wherr everything is forever improving. Furthermore, it is getting more competitive no matter for academics or work. Having a growth mindset can help us stand out, thus benefitting us. Therefore, everyone should learn to have a growth mindset, maybe through motivating ourselves in learning new things, such that we can have a better future.

  5. I believe that growth mindset is very important as it helps one develop his/ her potential. A person with growth mindset will look on the more positive side when something happens. Through this, he will try to push himself to do better the next time round and thus improve over time. However, a person with fixed mindset will just give up if he isn't able to accomplish something. This way, he will only stay at his current level or even deprove as he does not try to improve himself. Hence, i think that everyone should work towards the goal of having a growth mindset so we can all improve ourselves.

  6. I feel that learning about the growth vs fixed mindset has let me understand many things. For one, I learnt that by fixating something, such as thinking that you will never be able to do something as it is too difficult, will lead you to be unable to succeed. Should many entrepreneurs have the fixed mindset, we will not be able to enjoy many things that we do today, such as the smart phone or electricity, as once upon a time, an inventor with a growth mindset was able to overcome multiple set backs and succeed. Likewise, only with the growth mindset are we able to improve ourselves so that we can succeed.

  7. I feel that growth mindset is much more beneficial than fixed mindset. It gives us confidence. We can only succeed if we believe that we are able to do it. Growth mindset enables us to see things from different ways, providing us more chances to develop ourselves. It is important for us to make further improvements.
